Creating a Garden for Pollinators

Birds  Bees  Butterflies  Blooms ~ Do you love these as much as I do?

One of my favorite things to do is sit outside and watch the birds and butterflies dance from feeder to flowers. I originally only had one flower garden that has a mixture of flowers in it. I planted my first garden years ago and my only thought was to have pretty low maintenance flowers. This garden was planned and planted with for pollinators. But oh my goodness, I didn't expect it to take so long to dig the sod up. My back was killing me the next day.

My Thought Process :

  • Dig all the sod up
  • Put edging around the area
  • Plant the seeds and/or flowers
  • Add a lot of bags of mulch
  • Finish up with some watering

Wow! What a project!

It looks like a crazy mess right now but wait until it all blooms. I planted hundreds of seeds. The Milkweed is thriving and the bees are loving it. Most of the green stems that are shown are Cosmos. I can't wait to see all the different shades of pink. I expect next summers to look even more colorful.

Just a few flowers that have bloomed so far
